Why You Should Feed Your Lawn Throughout the Year

Learn how using our Annual Program will help keep your lawn growing strong throughout the year.

Feeding your lawn throughout the year will help ensure your home is surrounded by a lush, green lawn from early spring all the way through until fall. Not only will that give your grass the nutrition it needs to thrive, but with the right fertilizer, you’ll also have to battle fewer weeds and fight fewer drought issues. Enter the Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program, one simple program for a beautiful lawn. It contains everything you need to keep your lawn growing strong all year long.

Here’s how to apply it:

In Early Spring: Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Early Spring

Now that cold weather is on its way out, put your lawn on the fast-track to green by applying Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Early Spring between February and April, once the lawn has dried out from the winter but before temperatures are regularly above 80 degrees. This product will get your yard off to a great start by both feeding the lawn and preventing crabgrass and other listed grassy weeds from sprouting for up to 4 months.

TIPS:

  • Prepare for the year by purchasing the Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program now.
  • Apply the Early Spring product between February and April, before the 3rd or 4th mowing. Use an accurate, fast-applying spreader, such as the Scotts® Elite Spreader, for easiest application.
  • Be sure to follow label directions.

In Spring: Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Spring

To help your lawn continue to thrive during the spring and kill pesky broadleaf weeds, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Spring between April and June, but at least 6 to 8 weeks after applying the Early Spring product. It clears out dandelion and clover and kills other listed weeds while feeding to build strong grass roots for a stronger, better lawn in the summer.

TIPS:

  • Apply the Spring product between April and June.
  • For best results, apply to damp grass on a day where no rain is expected for at least 24 hours.
  • Be sure to follow label directions.

In Summer: Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Summer

To keep your lawn thick and green during the hot summer months, apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Summer between June and August. The Summer product helps your lawn maximize water usage by driving water into the soil (so there’s less runoff). It also encourages strong, deep root growth for a better lawn in the fall.

TIPS:

  • Apply the Summer product between June and August.
  • If rain is not expected, water the lawn immediately afterward to activate.
  • To save water, try gradually reducing watering time.

In Fall: Apply Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Fall

Scotts Program - Free Shipping on All Bundles!

Get your lawn ready for a long winter’s nap by applying Scotts® Turf Builder® Annual Program Fall between August and November, but at least 6 to 8 weeks after applying the Summer product. This will help your grass build strong roots for a better lawn next spring.

TIPS:

  • Apply the Fall product between August and November.
  • Look at the forecast and choose a day when there’s no rain expected for 24 hours.
  • For best results, apply to damp grass.
  • Be sure to follow label directions.
