3 Simple Ways to Spring Open Your Lawn & Garden with Scotts® and Miracle-Gro®

What better way to enjoy spring than by turning your lawn and garden into the perfect yard oasis for relaxing, playing, entertaining, and admiring?

Spring always marks the beginning of something new and promising. What better way to enjoy it than by turning your lawn and garden into the perfect yard oasis for relaxing, playing, entertaining, and admiring? Now's the time to harness your energy and enthusiasm and hop to it with these three simple tips for springing open your lawn and garden with help from Scotts® and Miracle-Gro®.

1. Plan Your Projects

Evaluate what you need to purchase to help your lawn, garden, and patio look its best. Here are some great project ideas:

Projects to Jump-start the Lawn

Great spring lawn care sets the stage for healthy summer growth. Now is the time to repair thin or bald areas in the lawn with Scotts® EZ Seed®. Then, feed your lawn with the appropriate Scotts® Turf Builder® Lawn Food for your type of grass. If weeds were a problem last year, choose a Scotts® Turf Builder® Lawn Food that contains weed control, based on your region and grass type.

Projects to Jump-start the Garden

Spruce up your patio or other (sunny) high traffic area with a container garden: One idea is to group three or five containers of various sizes together. Fill them with Miracle-Gro® Moisture Control® Potting Mix to help guard against over- and under-watering. Then, to create an eye-catching design, surround one small evergreen shrub with spring bloomers like pansies, violets, ornamental kale, verbena, alyssum, or geraniums.

Create a vegetable and herb garden: When (and what) you plant in the spring differs depending on where you live, but pretty much every vegetable garden bed is going to need a refresh. Improve the soil by mixing a 3 inch layer of Miracle-Gro® Garden Soil for Vegetables and Herbs into the top 6 to 8 inches of existing soil. This will provide roots with just the right growing environment, so plants will flourish.

Add definition to your garden beds: Use Scotts® Mulch to make them look sharp and help keep the soil moist for productive plant growth.

Projects to Jump-start the Patio

Is your deck or patio furniture looking a little worse for the wear? You can get rid of the stains from mold, mildew, and more in short order with Scotts® Outdoor Cleaner Plus OxiClean™. It will wipe away the built-up grime and is safe to use around fabrics, plants, and grass.

After all, one of the best parts about having a lush lawn and beautiful garden is taking the time to enjoy it!
