Field bindweed, also called wild morning glory, is a troublesome weed in lawns, in flower and vegetable gardens, and around trees and shrubs. It thrives in rich, heavy soil. The creeping, twining stems may be 3 to 9 feet long and frequently invade yards from nearby roadways, fields, and vacant lots. White to pink funnel-shape flowers bloom and produce seed from May to September. Field bindweed is difficult to control because it reproduces by seeds and from pieces of the rhizome.
Hand-pulling or hoeing cannot control bindweed.
