The surfaces of leaves are covered with irregular patches or a thin layer of grayish white powdery mildew. The infected leaves are yellow and may drop prematurely. In late summer, tiny black dots are scattered over the white patches, looking like ground pepper.
When mildew is first noticed, apply a fungicide labeled for powdery mildew, following label instructions. . Clean up plant debris in late summer.
