Reddish-brown, flat, thin insects up to 1 inch long with straight or curved pincers projecting from the rear of the body are often found in dark, secluded places such as pantries, closets, drawers and even in bedding. They may be seen scurrying along baseboards or moving from room to room. Earwigs can pinch painfully.
