Leaves, shoots, and flower buds are covered with a thin layer or irregular patches of a grayish white powdery material. The leaves and shoots are distorted and stunted, and flower buds usually fail to open. Infected leaves may look reddish beneath the mildew; the leaves often drop prematurely.
Apply a fungicide labeled for powdery mildew. When replanting, select varieties that are resistant.
