Chiggers are tiny, six-legged wingless organisms (larvae) that grow up to become a type of mite. Their bite cause welts and hard, raised bumps, especially on parts of the body where clothing is binding or joint areas, such as armpits, or the backs of the knees.
To keep them out of the house, seal openings around doors and windows, inspect and repair screens. Clean up any debris outdoors that may harbor these pests.
