Tiny white to gray or bluish gray insects less than 1/5 inch long are found in the soil of potted plants or in the saucer underneath. They may be seen crawling rapidly on the soil or hopping up to several inches in the air when disturbed or when potting mix is watered.
Springtails cannot live in dry soil. Water plants less often and drain the saucer below the plant to kill springtails.
