Ripening fruit is misshapen and rotten, and it may drop prematurely. Deep, crescent-shape scars and holes about 1/8 inch in diameter appear on the fruit. If cut open, such fruit may contain crescent-shape, yellow-gray, legless grubs with brown heads.

You can''t kill the grubs inside the fruit. Pick up and destroy all fallen fruit. The following spring, apply an insecticide labeled for this pest, following label directions.
