Generally only a summer annual, this invasive creeper takes over weak spots in your turf. Before you know it, your lawn is infested with a mat of Mexican clover (also called Florida pusley). Just a few, quick steps will keep this low-growing weed from spreading.
Mexican clover usually only spreads by seed in warm, tepid weather. Stems occasionally root at the node, but this is very rare. You can find it growing whenever temperatures are above freezing in the Southern US.
To ward of an infestation, keep your lawn thick and healthy. Small problems can be removed by hand, but larger ones should be treated with a Roundup® Brand Weed & Grass Killer. Spot-treat only the weeds, so you don't kill your desired plants.
Also called Florida pusley, the leaves and the stems of this bright green weed are covered in tiny, velvety hairs. The oval leaves grow opposite each other and are usually pointed at the tip. Its white, tubular flowers sprout up in clusters at the end of each stem, and bloom whenever Florida pusley is in season.
