Grass is naturally designed to capture a lot of rainfall and use it efficiently. With good care - like feeding and mowing high - you'll water less because grass will have strong, deep roots that can find water better.
A well-fed, healthy lawn uses less water than an unfed lawn, especially when you feed with Scotts® Turf Builder® Fertilizer with Water Smart®. Regular feedng improves the lawn's ability to absorb water and nutrients and build strong, deep roots. A thick lawn with deep roots is better able to tolerate drought and will recover more quickly once water becomes available.
Set your mower to its highest setting. Taller grass blades promote deeper roots to reach more water in the soil better, requiring less watering.

If you choose to water beyond what Mother Nature provides, wait until your grass dulls in color or begins to wilt. And be sure to water early in the morning before the heat of mid-day, to minimize wasteful evaporation.
