Fill garden bed with soilFill the bed using one 0.67-cf bag of Miracle-Gro® Expand 'n Gro? Concentrated Planting Mix per bed. Expand 'n Gro? is lightweight and easy to use. If you prefer, use one 2-cf bag of Miracle-Gro® Potting Mix per bed instead.

Work out the clumpsWork out any soil clumps with your hand or a small trowel. Add add water, working the soil, and watch the mix expand in size.
Plan the layoutUsing the Seed Spacing Template, plan the layout of the bed(s). If you?ve chosen deep-rooted plants, you may want to stack the beds first.
Special Note: When choosing plants, always consider the plants? sun, water and root depth requirements.
Flatten the soilFlatten the soil in one corner of the bed, and then gently place the Seed Spacing Template on top.
Seed your bedThe convenient, color-coded holes show exactly where to plant for 2?, 4?, 6? and 12? spacing. Place the seed in the appropriately colored hole based on seed packet instructions.
Determine plant spacingFor transplants, mark the spacing specified on the plant tag with your finger so you know exactly where to plant after removing the template.
Move the templateMove the template from corner to corner until you?ve planted the entire bed.
Water your plantsBe sure to water your freshly planted seeds or transplants for a good start.
